Abstract

The Recommender System Context (RSCtx) ontology represents context which may be interesting in providing recommendations to users. It extends PRISSMA, a domain-independent vocabulary for displaying Web of Data resources in mobile environments.

Introduction

Recommender Systems (RS) are software tools and techniques providing suggestions for items to be of use to a user. Various kind of items can be suggested such as music tracks, movies and news. Context Aware Recommender Systems (CARS) are a particular category of recommender systems which exploits contextual information for providing more effective recommendations.

PRISSMA vocabulary provides classes and properties to model core mobile context concepts useful for dynamic adaptation of user interfaces for RDF data. It models the context of usage by modeling different dimensions: the user who requested the resource, the device features on which the resource will be displayed and the surrounding physical environment.

RSCtx extends PRISSMA in order to represent the main contextual information which are relevant when recommending resources to users.
